Mission
The primary purpose of the Finance Committee is to support the mission, goals, and programs of the Society by developing and overseeing the SGIM budget, investments and fiscal decisions, as well as identifying and securing multiple sources of monetary and non-monetary support. The Committee is led by the SGIM Treasurer, Mark Schwartz, MD, and Treasurer-Elect, Hollis Day, MD.
Developing SGIM
The Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) speaks for academic internal medicine, general internal medicine and primary care physicians. SGIM is your professional home, providing world-class opportunities for networking, mentoring and advocacy. Our members are the leading physicians in general internal medicine and are dedicated to insuring all adults receive high quality health care. Furthermore, SGIM cultivates the expansion of general internal medicine by involving all levels of primary care physicians including medical students, residents, fellows, physicians and leaders in medicine.
To reach our mission, SGIM depends on monitoring of all our revenue and expenses throughout the year as well as identifying successful and innovative revenue sources. To this end, we reach out to our members to support us through donations, bequests and participation in our programs. As the Society helps you to reach your professional and personal goals, we ask that you support our developmental goals.
