Practice Redesign Pre-Course Flyer
Technology has enhanced the capabilities of primary care practices. Examples are electronic records, population health management tools like disease registries, high risk case finding using bid data analytics, and electronically enabled non-visit encounters. But the incorporation of these technologies into a standard primary care practice creates additional work demands on the care team that are often not offset by efficiency gains, and these stressors are major contributors to burnout.
Following a review of the impact of these technologies on ambulatory practice, participants will use a case-based format coupling brief didactics with group exercises to learn process improvement tools and techniques that can assist practices in incorporating these essential enabling technologies while maintaining a sustainable care model.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Describe ways that information technology enhances or threatens quality of care in the ambulatory setting.
- Analyze one's practice to identify and prioritize opportunities for redesign.
- Apply process improvement techniques to practice redesign efforts.
