Apply to Be an Associate Member Editor of Forum

Are you an associate member of SGIM? SGIM Forum is looking for a resident or fellow member to serve as an Associate Editor on the AE team!

The associate member of Forum will provide an essential trainee perspective on the planning and development of Forum content for our diverse membership. Due to the unique nature of this position, only current residents and fellows are eligible to serve as associate member AE. Applicants must be current SGIM associate members to apply for this position.

Responsibilities will generally be similar to that of SGIM Forum Associate Editors. Such responsibilities may vary during their term, but generally include all of the following at some time during their tenure.

SGIM Forum Associate Editors (AEs):

  • Contribute original work to SGIM Forum
  • Serve as an ambassador or “talent scout” to encourage SGIM members to submit high-quality work (articles or artwork) to SGIM Forum.
  • Facilitate members’ submissions, as well as field general questions about the scope, content, and aims of SGIM Forum. As associate member AE, you may be well-positioned to also encourage the submission of work from trainees and students to Forum
  • May be occasionally asked to review/edit submitted articles to facilitate production
  • Participate actively in virtual monthly AE meetings. While schedule conflicts arise and it can be difficult to accommodate all AE schedules for meetings, if you are not able to attend group meetings, you keep in regular contact with other AEs as your proxy and/or directly in contact with the Editor-in-Chief through other communications to fulfil your AE responsibilities.
  • Support, engage in, or promote SGIM Forum activities, including but not limited to Tweet chats, writing portfolio development, mentored writing, virtual or on-site workshops at regional and national meetings for members, etc. For example, promoting and marketing activities may mean sharing marketing materials through social media, local listservs, etc.
  • Have fun!

If you are an associate member of SGIM and interested in becoming an AE for SGIM Forum, please submit the following by February 15, 2021.

  • Short letter of intent/interest

  • One writing sample that represents your point of view or perspective on an issue.
