Apply Now: Journal of General Internal Medicine Editorial Fellowships Available

The Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM) editorial fellowship is designed to gain a deeper understanding and experience in the peer review, editorial, and academic writing process. Participants in this two-year editorial fellowship will develop skills in editing and reviewing manuscripts and will have opportunities for professional networking that could enhance their academic careers.

Each Editorial Fellow will be paired with a mentor who is a current JGIM Editor. This distance program will allow fellows to continue their local responsibilities. Fellows will receive training how to do effective peer review and will work with their mentor to learn how to manage submissions to JGIM. They will participate in a curriculum designed to enhance skills in scientific writing and editing as well as learn about the publishing process. Fellows will also participate in editorial team conferences. Attempts are made to pair the Fellow with mentors who have similar interests and/or background.

Through working closely with the editorial staff, this program will assist in the growth, development, and sustainable advancement of individuals’ academic career through working closely with the JGIM editorial staff. Fellows will have the opportunity to connect with experienced writers, the JGIM associate editorial cadre, the JGIM Editorial Board, and other accomplished SGIM members.
Both MD and PhD applicants are equally welcome but medical students are not eligible. Applicants will need to commit to attending the 2024 SGIM Annual Meeting in Boston, MA May 15-18, 2024.
