SGIM is pleased to request letters of interest regarding the position of Editor(s)-in-Chief for the Journal of General Internal Medicine (JGIM). The position of Editor(s)-in-Chief of JGIM is one of the most important and visible positions within the Society. JGIM provides a critical forum for publication for our membership on topics of interest to the field of general internal medicine. By the judicious selection of articles for publication, the JGIM Editor(s)-in-Chief help to shape our field. The importance of the JGIM Editor(s)-in-Chief is evidenced by the fact that he/she/they are ex officio members of the SGIM Council.
This Call is soliciting initial letters of interest in the position of JGIM Editor(s)-in-Chief, for a five or six-year term commencing July 1, 2023. A two-step selection process will be used:
- Initial letters of interest: September 30, 2022 by 5:00pm EDT.
- Full proposals (by invitation only): Deadline TBD
The Journal of General Internal Medicine is supported by a Managing Editor (Jenni Clarkson) and an Assistant Managing Editor (Rachel Roberts). Both managing editors are SGIM employees who are based at Regenstrief Institute in in Indianapolis, Indiana and both positions will remain in place throughout the next editorial term. The JGIM editorial budget covers their staff salary and overhead at Regenstrief.
