Research Presentation Awards


Mack Lipkin Sr. Associate Member Scientific Presentation Awards

Three Mack Lipkin, Sr. Associate Member Awards will be given to the Associate Members whose abstracts are judged highest. Eligible candidates must be an SGIM Associate Member (Student, Resident, or Fellow), must be first author of an abstract submitted for the Annual National Meeting, and must have had a major role in the work being submitted.

Eligible candidates should identify their eligibility for these awards during the online submission process.


Milton W. Hamolsky Jr. Faculty Scientific Presentation Awards

Three Milton W. Hamolsky Awards will be given to Junior Faculty whose abstracts are judged to be the most outstanding among those submitted by Junior Faculty members of SGIM (junior faculty who are in their first 2 years of a faculty appointment).

Eligible candidates should identify their eligibility for these awards during the online submission process and provide the additional information required.


Women’s Health Abstract Presentation Award

The Women’s Health Task Force has an annual awards program to acknowledge the best Women’s Health oral abstract presentation.

Trainees and junior faculty members who submit abstracts in the Women’s Health Category at the SGIM National annual meeting are eligible.

There is no separate application process other than the standard SGIM abstract selection process.


Best Geriatrics Abstract and Poster Presentation Awards

This award is given to the most highly-rated Geriatrics oral abstract presentation, to recognize outstanding research at the intersection of geriatrics and general internal medicine.

All authors who submit abstracts in the Aging/Geriatrics/End-of-Life Category for the SGIM Annual Meeting are eligible. This will include all presenters at the Geriatrics Oral Abstract Session, and any abstracts submitted in the Geriatrics Category that are presented at the plenary session.

There is no separate application process other than the standard SGIM abstract selection process.


Best Hospital-Based Medicine Oral Abstract and Poster Presentation Awards

These awards are given to the most highly-rated Hospital-Based Medicine oral abstract and poster presentations, to recognize and promote demonstrable excellence in clinical practice in an inpatient setting.  The purpose is also to improve the quality of care in the inpatient setting by teaching new information and skills. All authors who submit abstracts in the Hospital-Based Medicine Category for the SGIM Annual Meeting are eligible. This will include all presenters at the Hospital-Based Oral Abstract Session, and any abstracts submitted in the Hospital-Based Medicine Category that are presented at the plenary session. 

There is no separate application process other than the standard SGIM abstract selection process.
