Associate Representative on Council call for nominations

Deadline to Submit Nominations & Letters of Support
August 2, 2019 at 5:00pm ET

Submit Application

In 2004 SGIM members approved a bylaws change creating an ex-officio associate member Council position. The current Associate member’s term of office is coming to a close; we are seeking nominations for a new candidate. This position gives Associates a voice on Council, especially to help develop strategies to make SGIM more attractive to trainees and associate members and to develop future leaders.

Candidates should have a history of participation in organizations that advance a generalist or primary care agenda. Self- nominations are encouraged. Others may nominate associate members provided the candidate is notified and agrees prior to submitting their names for consideration. Nominees must be SGIM associate members in good standing. Candidates are encouraged to articulate their priorities, especially how they will represent Associates as an ex-officio member of Council. The position requires:

  • a two-year commitment;
  • 90 minute monthly Council conference calls,
  • two three day Council retreats a year (June & December) and
  • ad hoc committee assignments.

The selected candidate will begin their term in November 2019 and serve through May 2021.

Submission Requirements

Candidates should submit a one page letter of interest that includes the following information:

  • History in organizations that advance a generalist or primary care agenda
  • Your Leadership experience
  • General statement of interest including your priorities, especially how you will represent Associates as the ex-officio member of Council

Upload a current copy of your CV  and indicate the statement of endoresement from one or more of the following: your Chair, Division Chief, Program Director, Fellowship Director, Dean of Students or faculty member.

Nominations must be made online through the SGIM members’ only website under Awards and Nominations. Select Associate Representative on Council Nomination and upload required documents.
