Workshop CategoriesWORKSHOP CATEGORIES AND DESCRIPTIONS Please select the one category which should be used to assign your submission to review committees and presentation sessions. Aging/Geriatrics/End of Life: issues related to aging, the care of older adults, and/or end-of-life care regardless of patient age. Chronic Disease Care/Patient Centered Medical Home: strategies to increase the efficiency or effectiveness of medical practice, care management of chronic diseases, or broader perspectives on chronic disease management such as access and information technology. Clinical Medicine: clinical skills in a target area, such as procedures, office orthopedics, complementary/alternative medicine, perioperative and consultative medicine, etc. Health Disparities/Vulnerable Populations: the health and health care of underserved and special populations, health disparities, and health literacy. Health Policy/Social Justice: advocacy and issues that impact health policy at local, state/province, national, and/or international/global levels. Hospital-based Medicine: the care of hospitalized patients, the role and effectiveness of hospitalists and hospital-based systems. Medical Education Scholarship: curricular design/implementation, and needs/outcomes assessment in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education. Medical Humanities and Ethics: the history of medicine, literature, clinical ethics, philosophy, theology, and/or spirituality in medicine. Mental Health/Substance Abuse: educational, research, or clinical perspectives in mental health and substance abuse, including alcohol, tobacco, prescription and non-prescription drugs. Personal/Professional Development: development, satisfaction, personal/professional balance, and skill development for leadership/administration throughout all stages of GIM careers. Quality of Care/Patient Safety: quality assessment, quality improvement, medical errors, and patient safety. Research Methods: skills in study design or data analysis for researchers at all levels
