Southern Regional Meeting
February 25-27, 2010
Hotel Inter-Continental, New Orleans, LA

Greetings Southern SGIM!

We are pleased to announce the date and location of the Southern Regional Meeting for the Society of General Internal Medicine.  The meeting will be February 25 – 27, 2010 at the Hotel Inter-Continental in New Orleans, LA.  We have several exciting activities planned!

In addition to the excellent research abstracts, clinical vignettes and workshops, we plan to continue the successes from last year including:

• Mini-Workshops
• An Associates’ Track
• Poster Session Feedback
• Clinical update talks from experts in the areas of medical education, hospital medicine, and ambulatory care
• Panel Mentoring
• Interest Groups

This year’s precourse will be an interactive and informative session, important for all of us who provide care for patients, entitled “You Can Do it and Teach it: Practical Tips for Coding and Documentation.”

We are excited to continue our innovative sessions, and new to the 2010 meeting, we hope to have:

• Innovations in Medical Education sessions (abstracts and workshops)
• A postcourse session Saturday afternoon with ABIM modules for those planning to recertify or improve their medical knowledge

The deadline for abstract, vignette and workshop submissions is October 16, 2009. To submit, please visit our "Call for Submissions" section for more information.

Please let us know if you have any questions, ideas, or would like to volunteer as a reviewer.  As always, we welcome your input and feedback, and are looking forward to another great meeting.

See you in New Orleans!

Sincerely,

Lisa L. Willett, MD
