This 2-3 year, full-time fellowship integrates primary care physicians, psychologists, social scientists, advance practice nurses and pharmacists in an intense, interdisciplinary experience in primary care and community engaged research. Through training, fellows will: • Conduct and disseminate research to inform delivery of high quality, cost-effective care and population health improvement strategies; • Partner with at-risk communities to address root causes and cultural, linguistic and systems barriers that contribute to primary care sensitive conditions and health disparities; and • Serve as academic role models & mentors for students considering primary care professions. The program’s hallmarks are extensive and sustained collaboration among the faculty across departments in multiple arenas providing shared resources and mentoring of fellows. Partnerships with the MCW School of Pharmacy and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing expand interprofessional practice and research opportunities in a rapidly transforming health care environment. The program’s hallmarks are extensive and sustained collaboration among the faculty across departments in multiple arenas providing shared resources and mentoring of fellows. New partnerships with the MCW School of Pharmacy and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Nursing expand interprofessional practice and research opportunities in a rapidly transforming health care environment. Experienced investigators and teachers are committed to the success and professional development of the fellows, and strive toward a diverse, culturally competent primary care research workforce. Fellows conduct research to maximize health care quality, cost-effectiveness and improve population health, while partnering with communities and professions that have been underrepresented in academic medicine to address health priorities and help drive primary care innovation.
